This business for sale is an unusual opportunity to own an established and profitable news magazine in one of the wealthiest communities in the world.
The magazine was established in 1997. It produces a 40 page magazine printed on newsprint 6 times a year. Each issue has 20 pages of ads and 20 pages of articles and photos. Each issue nets a profit of approximately $20,000. However, the owner has worked out agreements with some of his subscribers where he barters ad space for services provided by the advertiser. Some issues have as much as 70% of the ad revenues paid in non-cash services.
This is a home based business. The owner works approximately 30 hours on each issue. Most of the advertisers are repeat customers. All of the articles and photos are contributed for free by readers in the community. The owner's main duties are to contact the advertisers and do the lay out of the issue on his computer. These are skills that can be easily taught.
There is room for growth on the business side. Recently, the magazine has begun to attract advertisers from some international 5 star hotels wanting to reach out to the wealthy community. The owner believes that there are many opportunities to grow ad business in that direction. Currently, most of the ads are from local businesses.
